WordWeb fully covers all English spellings and words. It is updated on a regular basis, and has no bothering advertisements.
The database indexes over a million different entries. You can also cross-reference to definitions on other sites. And if you don't know a word in a definition, you can click on it to take you to its definition.
As being a non-native English speaker, I often need more than one dictionary to satisfy my quest of English language. It helps me to get meaning of any English word in its true essence from multiple sources. Nevertheless, at the same time I hate keeping open various tabs on my browser just for looking up a meaning.
As an offline dictionary, I use WordWeb Pro due its some unmatchable features that gives WorbWeb an edge over other offline dictionaries. Moreover, it solves my problem of looking up meaning of any English word from multiple online sources without opening tabs for each source. In fact, without launching a browser!
We can add multiple online dictionaries in WordWeb Pro through a simple method that works just fine for our purpose.
You can look at the screenshot below of my WordWeb Pro and get a feeling of how it looks like. You can also view the screencast below to see these dictionaries in working.
(Wikitionary and Wikipedia already comes up preloaded with WordWeb Pro.)

How to add multiple online dictionaries in WordWeb Pro.
First of all, launch WordWeb dictionary.
Go to OPTIONS>Dictionary Tabs…
First of all, launch WordWeb dictionary.
Go to OPTIONS>Dictionary Tabs…
Now Dictionary Tabs window will be launched. Click on “New” to add new online dictionary. It will open a new window where you will see two slots to fill up. One is NAME slot and other is URL slot. (See screenshot below).
In NAME slot, Write anything and it will be the name of your dictionary.
Now I will tell you how to fill URL slot for different dictionaries.
For Merriam Webster Online...
Copy and paste the URL given below.
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/%s
http://oxforddictionaries.com/definition/%s
http://www.google.com/dictionary?aq=f&langpair=en|en&q=%s&hl=en
http://www.yourdictionary.com/%s
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/%s
The above mentionaed dictionaries are just examples and the one I like most from online available resources. But you are by no means restricted to these dictionaries only.
So what’s the trick?
The trick lies in finding the suitable URL for that dictionary which you want to merge with WordWeb Pro.
If you look at the URLs above. You will notice that these are not similar.
Just open the dic. as you normally open in browser.
Search for any word like “Cynosure”.
Now copy the URL that is displayed in the URL bar of the browser. Look at the URL carefully and replace “Cynosure” in the URL with “%s” (without quotes). Now this URL is ready for Word Web.
Hope will find this post suitable. In case, you cannot implement this trick, just let me know in comments and I’ll help you.
