List of Amoled display Phones: All Amoled phone at one page

Amoled display has become a hot topic in the display industry. There is no doubt in the fact that most of the new phones launched in the market are coming with amoled display. Samsung, being a pioneer in this technology, has changed its whole paradigm by producing nearly all phones with this kind of display. When we analyze the cell phone industry, we feel that this Amoled technology is outshining all other technologies like OLED, LCD, LED and TFT. Diversion of other companies like Nokia, HTC, LG and Motorola towards this type of screen technology is a stand-alone proof of this fact.

There are many advantages of amoled display over other technologies like High refresh rates, very wide viewing angles, better and vivacious image, true colors and most of all, less power consumption. Although AMOLED display was criticized because of low viewability in direct sunlight but Samsung have minimized this problem by introducing its latest state-of-the-art SUPER AMOLED screens. By reducing the distance between layers, phones with this new technology offers excellent display in direct sunlight also.

This extensive post is intended to cover all available amoled display phones in the market. You will notice that more than 80 percent of the phones are from a single manufacturer – Samsung. Nevertheless, phones made by other companies have also been covered in this post.

What is AMOLED screen and WHAT it offers

AMOLED screen promises a great future in display industry that ranges from small mobile phone screens to wide display TVs.
Display industry have evolved to large extent. We saw the evolution of TFT screens. Then we experienced LED phones and displays. OLED gradually replaced LED. While OLED was still in the stage of infancy, we are hearing the echoes of AMOLED screens and AMOLED displays.

THEREFORE, what is AMOLED technology and what is the relationship between LED, OLED and AMOLED?
Question can be answered in two ways, technically an generally.

Technically speaking, AMOLED originates from is Active-matrix organic light-emitting diode is a display technology for use in cell phones and television. So we can say that it is an advanced form of light emitting diode LED.

Nevertheless, folks would say that OLED is also an advanced form of LED as the name suggests.

So what is the difference between AMOLED displays and OLED display?

Difference is the thickness of devices, brightness of screen and power consumption of the phones.
AMOLED screen is nothing but the active matrix OLED, while we can say that OLED is actually passive matrix. Moreover, this active matrix is the source of more brightness and low power consumption.

Let’s take a crack at the following videos that explains super AMOLED and the difference between this technology and its rivals.

Why not taking a glimpse at the advantages of AMOLED?

High refresh rates
Low power consumption, I must say very low power consumption.
Very thin displays
Flexible displays for future by this technology.
High contrast
Wide viewing angles.

These advantages make active-matrix OLEDs well suited for portable electronics, where power consumption is very important. The amount of power the display consumes also varies significantly depending on the color and luminance shown. for example, one commercial OLED display consumes 3 watts while showing black text on a white background, but only 0.7 watts showing white text on a black background.

Transparent displays has already been shown by samsung in expo that are made using AMOLED technology.

Yeas the dream of using roll-able and flexible screens made on plastic sheets is moving speedily towards its execution. You will find more in this post about flexible displays.

AMOLED promises flexible displays in future.

Samsung is moving towards display perfection with  rapid pace. This technology got some critical comments on behalf of poor display in sunlight, so, Samsung came up with Super amoled technology,
